Today, we are going to be going over the mmo Toram Online and why you should play it. The game is available on PC and mobile. We played on PC, so that's the version we will be covering. This will be a review/overview of a game. We will go over gameplay, but this is not a beginner's guide, as we still have minimal experience with the game. With all that out of the way, let's get started.
Okay so I wanna admit something before we start. I am insanely picky about character creation. I see it as one of the most important parts of games such as MMOs or life sim games. I am very happy to say that Toram did deliver for me at least when it comes to character creation. There are a couple steps to character creation so I’ll go over them and what they cover quickly.
Step one allows you to pick your gender, skin color, height, and body. You can either be a girl, guy, neutral a, or neutral b. From what I can tell the neutrals give you the opposite gender animations so you can be a girl character with the guy character animations or a guy character with the girl character animations. This is pretty cool in my opinion for those who wanted more customization to their character. There are 15 skin colors but I do wanna note most are pretty light. There are 5 different height options ranging from short to tall. And finally you can either have the normal texture for skin or the fit texture if you want a more muscular body.
Step two is all about the face. There are 15 faces you can choose from, and 5 different eye textures to make your character’s face more unique. You can choose between 16 different eye colors and you can essentially mix n match them since you can give your character heterochromia. Overall I’m really happy with all the options here! They are varied enough that even though I don't have complete control over every facial feature or a color wheel I was still able to make something I liked a lot.
Step 3 is my favorite part and very easily the part I spent the most time on. I put a lot of importance on hair options in the game because I essentially make myself whenever I play them. Hair is very important to me and how I express myself. Now all that being said I have never played a game old or new that has made me as happy as Toram did when it came to hairstyle options. Again I love this mix n match thing they got going on as you choose your characters bangs, the back of their hair, and tails/addons. There are 72 bang options, 68 back of the hair options, and 41 tail options including pigtails, buns, ponytails, and little hairs that stick out. Hairs also are not gender locked. There are 52 hair color options and if you have hair that has highlights or little accessories there are 17 different color options. I was honestly in heaven. This way of customizing hair makes me so happy. And don't get me started on hair length. This game is so perfect I can actually have long hair.
Allow me to rant very quickly and you’ll honestly be guaranteed to hear this in future videos but I absolutely HATE how games will give you shoulder length hair options and call it long. When I see hair called long I expect it to be actually long hair. It kills me when I start up a game and all the hair options are essentially the same length with some being called long when they really aint. In Toram when it has long hair options they actually mean it. Hair can range from being really short like above the chin to really long, like hitting your ankles long.
Anyways with the hair length rant behind us it is important to note that there isn't really any curly, coily, or textured hair. Unfortunately like a lot of games this one leaves those types of hairstyles out which while it wasn’t a problem for us it can be for you. The game is still updated to this day and I’m honestly hoping that hairstyles will be added to combat this issue.
The final step is picking your class.
After you create your character, you can pick a weapon, and this will decide your starting class. The options are sword, bow, staff, knuckles, Halberd, and katana. Right next to them, it says if they are easy, normal, or hard. You can pick one based on how difficult you want the combat to be and how you want to fight.
Don’t let those difficulties scare you, and just pick whatever looks fun. The community is super nice, and there are a few guides online if you want extra help. If you want to change later, you can change weapons at any time, but you will need to go to the library to purchase a new skill tree. You also have a secondary weapon you can equip. This means you can mix and match classes as well. Another layer of customization is added when you start getting more skill trees.
I picked staff for my first playthrough. It's a fun class, but I wouldn’t recommend trying to play it solo. I played with a friend, but I would probably die alone because I’m constantly standing still to cast spells and refill my mana.
୨୧ I picked the halberd class for our playthrough because I thought it looked cool. I usually go with melee weapons anyways and since draconic picked a hard class I chose the other one. I personally really like this class. I put everything into strength and I hit pretty hard. You also get a good amount of range with this class which is something I often forgot. Your weapon is pretty long especially compared to other melee classes so use that to your advantage.
There's a lot of different skill trees in this game. Of course you got the one relating to your class but you can also unlock more at the library. The library allows you to level up your skill tree so you can get more abilities or it allows you to unlock more. Skill trees are mostly divided up into the weapon skill trees, buff skill trees, assist skill trees, and the other skill tree which covers more production skills such as blacksmithing or taming. I really recommend mix n matching your skill to find what's best for you and your team. For example I put everything into getting powerful attack skills while draconic is more varied getting attack and support skills.
Another thing you’re going to want to keep an eye on is your stats. At the top, it will say what stats are best for your class. Just focus on those, and you can ignore the other ones.
The combat for this game is pretty simple once you start learning your skills. Add them to your bar, and then you just start clicking and using them. Like most MMOs, your character can also do basic autoattacks with a weapon, but it doesn’t do as much as your skills. When you want to attack something, just click F to lock on. F is how you will be doing most of your interacting. When enemies are stunned, a white circle appears on them. When that appears, make sure to click on it.
Make sure to read into your spells and attacks. There are different combos you can do if you do skills in a certain order, so try to organize your menu bar so you can quickly run through combos.
Other than that, this game plays like other MMOs, so if you play any other ones, this game won’t be too difficult to get into.
Outfits and equipment are a bit confusing. There's armor which of course makes you stronger by increasing things like your health or stats. This is shown in your inventory as equipment and you can buy, trade, sell, or create it with the blacksmithing skill. You can have equipment on but if you have costumes you can equip them as well so you can be protected and cute at the same time.
Costumes are things you can pull from the avatar shop either by using orbs or avatar tickets. Orbs can be bought with real money. Getting clothes is essentially gambling and you pull and hope to get what you want. Remember to check the odds before you spend all your orbs! Luckily us new players get 11 pulls every day for 30 days when we first join which allows us to get costume parts for free. That's how I got all of my clothes and I was able to make a cute outfit pretty quickly. I don’t think there is a way to sell, trade, or gift costume pieces, at least we couldn't find a way.
There are a lot of different costume banners and they cycle out either daily or monthly it seems. There are so many that I recommend waiting to use your orbs or avatar tickets until you see a banner you really want to pull on so it's a bit better cost wise as the costumes come in multiple different pieces and different colors meaning you could do 11 pulls and not get the full costume itself in one color way.
The game has a line of main quests with an overarching plot. The plot is your typical fantasy plot. You have no memory, and now you are an adventurer looking for your purpose in life. At the start, you will get missions from one of the 12 gods to look into miasma and evil dragons. This isn’t a game I would play for plot, but the lore is still interesting. At least the cute outfits and fun gameplay make up for it.
In the center of the main city, Sofiya city, there is the consignment board. It allows players to sell unwanted items to other players. I’m pretty sure you can just about buy everything except costumes. I highly recommend you look at the description of items and their prices carefully so you don't get tricked into buying something for much more than its worth.
Later in the game, you can unlock the taming skill. This allows you to get pets. Pets are not just there for looks and can be used to help you out in gameplay. This is more endgame, but it's something to look forward to as you play the game. There’s also a wizard skill tree you can unlock that lets you summon a familiar. The default is a cat, but if you gamble, you can get an owl or a different cat.
You can buy land and expand your land with money. You need at least 10,000 to get started. On your land is where you build your home, keep your pets, garden, cook, sell things through a stall, and play minigames such as fishing. You can leave it as empty as you want or make it as cute as you want within the furniture limit. Be sure to also visit players' houses as when we were playing we were given codes for places with food buffs that made it much easier to fight.
The community in this game is super nice. I was surprised to be greeted and helped by so many people in my chat, my first day playing. One of the viewers even came into the game and started giving us a bunch of free shit. All they asked for was one nut. Genuinely, they were so kind that I felt so spoiled.
If you ever need help with anything in the game, reach out in chat. Most likely, someone will be willing to help out. I was also told there are some guilds that like to help out new players, so look into that as well. Play with some friends or get to know other players because it really enhances the experience.
And that’s all we have to say for now! We honestly really like this game and its community. For one of my first MMOs I'd personally say this one is really, really good. It's pretty complicated but watching tutorials and asking for help really saves you. The character creation and customization is also a really big draw in my opinion. You could honestly use the character creator to just make characters. I feel like there's so much to do that it can be a great game for a lot of different people for different reasons.
